The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Fire Services is currently accepting applications for a full time Learn Not to Burn Coordinator within the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Fire Services. The NL Association of Fire Services is an equal opportunity employer.

Position Overview

This position will conduct our Learn Not to Burn program for the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Fire Services under the direction of the president and the board of the association. The successful applicant must be a dynamic initiative-taking individual who can work independently with limited supervision. 

The Learn Not to Burn Coordinator position will be employed as per the school year from September through May. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Should possess excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • The successful candidate must have the flexibility to work outside of regular hours when requested for conference calls and meetings. 
  • This is a position where travel is required; applicants must hold a valid driver’s license. 
  • Create and deliver monthly reports as directed by the NLAFS Board of Directors. 
  • Liaise with Fire Departments and Fire and Emergency Services throughout the province. 
  • Liaise with schools and school districts. 
  • Create schedules for LNTB program implementation. 
  • Develop and deliver up to date fire safety presentations using various demonstrations, tools, and techniques.
  • Support the NLAFS with the development and delivery of the annual NLAFS convention. 
  • Attend various functions such as parades and meetings as directed by the NLAFS Board of Directors. 
  • Schedule the maintenance and care of the LNTB vehicle, as required. 
  • Other assigned duties as assigned by the NLAFS Board of Directors.
  • Experience in the Fire Service will be an asset to this position.
  • This position is a 40-hour work week,  Monday to Friday 9 am – 5 pm. 
  • Seven statutory holidays. 
  • Annual salary $36,000.00 
  • The Learn Not to Burn Coordinator reports to the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Fire Services Executive Director.
