Electric/AFV Safety Training for Emergency Responders
The primary goal of the Electric/AFV Safety Training for Emergency Responders program is to establish the need for training in electric and hybrid vehicles. This course is designed to address common myths about the dangers and problems with electric vehicles during emergency operations. This course will prepare first responders to be able to operate safely at incidents involving hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and electric vehicles (EVs). The program also covers identification techniques, immobilization and power-down procedures, extrication challenges, recommended practices for dealing with hazards such as fires and submersion, incidents involving charging/refueling stations and more.
